History
[...]; undated latest June 1938 owned by Arthur and Irene Barasch, Berlin; undated probably sold to Regierungsrat Gerlach [...]
On June 21, 1938, Philo Wuest appraised the convolute of artworks belonging to Arthur and Irene Barsch, which was located in the women's bedroom of the villa at Wissmannstraße 11 (now Baraschstraße), at 10 RM. According to statements made by Luise Haertel, Arthur Barasch's secretary, during restitution proceedings, Barasch sold the items following the appraisal to cover, among other things, a foreign currency fine, legal and emigration costs, as well as living expenses. Based on Haertel's recollections, Regierungsrat Gerlach purchased the furnishings of the bedroom, which would have included this convolute. The current whereabouts of the objects remain unknown.
