Description
The chandelier with around 20 light fittings consisted of assembled cast brass parts mounted on an iron rod. It is very likely that it was fire-gilded.
Provenance
Dresden Castle, 2nd floor north wing, antechamber to the Dante Room; In inventory no. 1 of 31.01.1920, as part of the 1924 settlement agreement between the Free State of Saxony and the former royal house, 1 bronze chandelier is listed under “Kammerdiener Zimmer am Dantezimmer” (valet's room in the Dante Room), which was given to the state as a room inventory marked in red; The chandelier from the was either taken to the Brauna manor near Kamenz on April 13, 1944, or at the latest on the second transport on April 21, 1944; Circumstances of loss unknown. A loss in connection with the events of the 2nd World War is assumed.
