In November 2020, the UB JCS began a project on provenance research funded by the German Lost Art Foundation and based at the UB's Archive Centre.

In the course of the project, around 80.000 volumes of the UB will be checked for their provenance. Two sections of the old holdings with publication years up to 1945 are to be examined in the project. Several suspicious cases have already been found in the partial holdings during random sampling. Access books from this period are available, but provide hardly any information about suspicious accessions.
