Hip portrait of a young woman in three-quarter profile to the right. The sitter is wearing a dark, off-the-shoulder dress and a gold chain with pendant. Her brown hair is parted in the middle and tied back. Her left arm is propped up, with a gold watch on it. It is the Countess Tatischeff, wife of the Russian ambassador Dimitri Tatischeff (1767-1845) in Vienna. The work is signed "Waldmüller" at lower left, but not dated.
