Description
Full round figure. Crucifix in the triangle type with moderately raised shoulders, the right side inclined head and a slight outstretched left hip. Christ is restored at the moment of dying; the wide-open eyes are raised to heaven, the mouth is lamentably open. The emaciated face and the exhausted body are further signs of suffering. The narrow silhouette of the body is scarcely interrupted by the cloth, which is looped around the loins, hanging from the right hip in a short course. The wavy, shoulder-length hair is high above the left temple.
Provenance
Before 1942 in the town hall Passau; 1942 Josef Johann Ludwig, Antiques, Paintings, Regensburg to GNM
