There is no entry for the object in the Institute's account books. The inventory number on the object refers to an acquisition in the accounting year 1942/43, an ownership label identifies the object as formerly belonging to the library of Wilhelm Heyer's Music History Museum in Cologne. After the museum's dissolution, the library came into the possession of the musicologist Georg Kinsky. The circumstances under which the object came into the possession of the institute's library have not yet been clarified.
