Description
The flat bowl with a wavy edge of strikingly thin material rests on three spherical feet with short cylindrical legs. In addition to a narrow edge strip, the base of the shell is grained roughened. In three places, a luxuriantly growing acanthus leaf from the shell's rim spills over the throat to the mirror; the remaining three passages are taken by a bundle of flowers and fruit formed in a powerful relief. In the mirror is a round medallion with a drumming boy with a turban in a landscape. The medallion is framed by a wreath of standing half circles with leaves. Hamburger Beschau and master's mark DO; not at Rosenberg. On the back at the edge the abraded inscription: Murg (?) Ao 1702 d. 25. Januarij
