Description
Neptune and Amphitrite approaching on their maritime cart, pulled by two reefing horses with fish tails. Neptune, clothed in a bright red cloth, holds the tricot with both hands. Beside him, Amphitrite is sitting, clothed in a leopard-colored garment, and embraces an oval blue shield with the mirror monogram of Johann Philipp Franz von Schönborn, surrounded by the inscription: PARET MINUS UNDA TRIDENTI. Sea-dwellers, partly human, partly animal-like, animate the foreground. On the left, a tree, on the right a towering rock, surrounds the scene. On the left side, the bow of a sailing vessel is visible. The picture frames are filled with 6 emblematic representations, in between trophies and shells. Below the inscription: IOHANNES PHILIPPUS FRANCISCUS DES HEIL. RÖM. REICHES GRAFEN VON SCHÖNBORN, HERRN ZU REICHELBERG, DOMPROBSTEN ZU WÜRZBURG DOMKAPITULATEN ZU MAYNZ UND PROBSTEN ZU ST. BARTHOLOMAEI IN FRANKFURTH.CHUR.MAYNZISCHEN GEHEIMEN RATH. (signed bottom left: Wolf Högler).
