Description
The center of the classic Italian landscape is dominated by a large tree, which is a "pivot" for landscape painting. A herd of cattle grazes in the meadow around the tree. To the left is a small temple in front of the Cascatelle des Aniene, on the hill above the town of Tivoli. To the right, a further view opens: across the Aniene river in the middle, a bridge leads. Behind it is the plain of the Campagna, which is closed by a table mountain.
