Description
1898 creation by the artist. 1938 Purchase by the art dealer Eysser, Munich. 1941 sale of the painting by the art dealer Eysser Munich at the Gallery Almas Munich from there to the Imperial Chancellery. 1945 acquisition of the painting from the former hiding place Altaussee in the CCP Munich. 1962 handover of the painting in the departmental assets of the Foreign Office. There is no evidence of a Nazi persecution-induced loss. Because of gaps in the provenance history,such an loss can not be completely excluded.
