The judgment of Midas
In the right half of the painting, Pan is depicted sitting on a hill, facing King Midas and pointing to Apollo with his right hand. To his right and left are figures against a forest backdrop. In the centre a naked man sits on a white cloth, while in front of him a standing youth with a wreath of leaves on his head plays an ancient stringed instrument (lyre). In the background two other persons can be seen in front of an Arcadian landscape.
The work is neither signed nor dated.
