Old man (study)
Bust portrait of an old man with bowed head and long beard. To the right of this is a sketch of two hands, unfolding a penknife. The work is a study for the etching "Learning Italian" (1889). The titles of the works are "Alter Mann (Studie)" (Old Man (Study)) and "Alter Mann mit gelocktem langenm Haar und Vollbart" (Old Man with Curly Long Hair and a Full Beard).
The work is signed and dated "A. M. 89" at lower left.
The following references can be taken from the reverse: in blue "1496/2" ( Mü-No.); in pencil "A. v. Menzel / Inv.Nr. 34" (No. Offer Almas, 1942).
