Pierre Loeb, Parisian art dealer with a Jewish background and owner of the Pierre Gallery, went into Cuban exile during the German occupation of France. After the end of the war he returned to France to continue the gallery. In the post-war period Pierre Loeb made no claim to the work (unlike other works). An inquiry in 2017 to the successor institution Galerie Loeb remained unanswered.
