Description
On the right, a lady in side view to the left, sitting at a table on a rococo chair, opposite her a gentleman, behind him a second chair. The lady with high hairstyle, dressed in a waisted robe with indicated ruffles around the neckline and wide skirt, the legs are flipped. In her hands she holds an open book. The gentleman wears a tricorn with a bag and a knee-length skirt; in front of him, on the oval table top resting on four straight legs, stands a cylindrical tobacco pot; in one hand he holds its lid, in the other a long pipe.
Profiled, gilded wooden frame with glazing (19th century).

In accordance with the information provided by the Central Institute for Art History Munich, "W.i.M" stands for Weiß in Munich. According to the Bavarian Economic Archives (Sign. K1/X 78a) is the correct name Hans Weisz, owner of the antiquarian bookshop in Munich, Briennerstr.)
