Description
Terrine in rococo form with relief and rich movement and shell lid. Manganese violet painted and with mark on lid and base: three "C" resp. crescents (mark of the faience manufactory Hannoversch-Münden, which refers to the three crescents in the coat of arms of the von Hanstein family) above a horizontal line, below "B4" (painter's mark). Torn several times.
Provenance
Submitted to Hans W. Lange's auction from 5 to 7 October 1943 as lot no. 371 (box number "110. Berlin"). Behind the cipher is the auctioneer himself. The consignment included several paintings previously auctioned on the Western European art market.
