Description
Tray probably made of nickel-plated sheet steel with decorations and engraving: "30 Jahre/1897-1927/Kaufhaus Leyser- Wienerstraße 64/am Görlitzer Bahnhof"
Three hand-engraved letters on the underside: "[?] M G"
Provenance
The Leyser department store at Wienerstraße 64/65 in Berlin belonged to Joseph (Josef) Leyser (born 6 July 1872, murdered 7 May 1943 in Sobibor), who was persecuted as a Jew. He was forced to close the department store in 1938. The house and property were auctioned off.
