Description
Signed on the right lower corner: "Rembrant" (over an erased signature); Isaac, garlanded with ivy, sits on a green cloth and leans against the altar, Abraham stands behind him, wearing a red coat, holding the knife in his right hand and looking up to the angel, who flies down with outstretched arm; on the left, a landscape vista.

1935 in the reorganized exhibition (file 3405); 1943 still present in the museum (catalog 1943, sheet 184); date of loss unexplained; 22-24.11.1979: auction Old Art, Kunsthaus Lempertz, Cologne, lot.no. 143; 1979 - 1982: Kunsthandel Hoogsteder & Hoogsteder, The Hague; present location: Museum Catharijneconvent, Utrecht, inv.no. StCC s19, purchase 1982 (among others with funds of the Rembrandt Association).
