Provenance
Claimant’s father owned several valuable possessions including two paintings which were stored in safe deposit boxes in Switzerland at the beginning of World War II. As of December 27, 1939, these valuables were ostensibly in Lausanne; however, claimant's father later wrote about moving them to Zurich for additional security. The attorney, Mr. Keller-Staub was his representative in Switzerland and apparently had power of attorney to deal with his belongings. The further circumstances of the theft are not known.
