Description
From the Medici history: the army train seen from behind, moving in the direction of a city in the background of the image; a horse's hindquarters with clipped tail in the centre of the foreground.
Provenance
According to the acquisition register, the painting was bought in 1939 at Wiesnet, Berlin. Present in the museum, first floor in 1944 (Verzeichnis 1944, p. 419); loss at the end of January 1946; current location: Pushkin Museum Moscow, Object 101084, No. ЭЖ-1092 (Dutch Master, "The Battle," 44 x 65.7 cm).
