Description
One of six beakers - each with a cinched foot and enamel painting: arabesques and strapwork, medallions with figural-mythological depictions; the upper edges each with engraved ornaments: intertwined ribbons, stylized flowers and leaves.
Provenance
Gifted by the Russian tsarina Catherine II to duchess Auguste of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld; her grandson duke Ernest II of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha then gave the teapot and several pieces from other sets to the Ducal Museum in 1878.
