Description

Shape:

The concave curved foot, whose outer edge is slightly rounded upwards, merges into a slender oval body with flat shoulder; slightly conical neck.

Décor:

Between narrow, long and serrated leaves grows a gnarled branch, from which Indian style flower and leaf tendrils unfold symmetrically over the outside, in the center a large, probably in red colored, fully unfolded as well as a half closed flower, in the branches sits a bird, above it two flying birds and insects; on the neck a dense, encircling flower tendril.

Manufacturer's mark: underglazed blue AR monogram.

Comment:

The cover shown in the historical photo is preserved: SKD, porcelain collection, inv. no. PE 5535; dimensions: h. 12.5 cm, d. 14.2 cm.

Provenance
Dresden Castle, tower room; the collection of porcelain, together with the carpets, furnishings from the porcelain gallery and scientific material (10 boxes), was relocated to 16 different locations in a total of 1211 boxes. The relocation sites, some of which were castles and manor houses, served as refugee accommodation after 1945. As part of the collection was later offered for sale by private individuals or found in private estates, it is assumed that some of the losses were due to looting and destruction. According to the loss report for the porcelain collection from 1991, a partial transport to the Soviet Union cannot be ruled out.
