Body of a Vase and Cover
Shape:
Concave curved foot, outer edge slightly rounded upwards; slender oval body with flat, horizontal shoulder; slightly conical neck; three visible firing cracks at the front of foot.
Décor:
A gnarled branch grows next to a stylized rock, from which two Indian style branches and tendrils unfold over the outside; a large bird with feather bonnet on its head, as well as flying smaller birds, butterflies and insects; to the right of the rock and branch a fence architecture; shoulder mostly unpainted; a broad, filigree gold border around the neck.
Manufacture's mark: underglazed blue AR monogram.

The cover shown in the historical photo is preserved: SKD, porcelain collection, inv. no. PE 7845: Dimensions: h. 8.2 cm, d. 12.2 cm.

"41. Hohe Deckelvase mit flacher, etwas eingezogener Schulter und stark angezogenem Fuß. Über den Gefäßkörper freie Verteilung von Blütensträuchern mit sitzenden und fliegenden Vögeln in Rot, Purpur, Grün, Gelb, Braun, Gold, am Hals Goldspitze auf weißem Grund, Meißner Porzellan, AR III 84 +, am Boden kleine Brandrisse. Höhe: 47,5 cm, Durchmesser: ca. 21 cm. (Turmzimmer, vormal. Residenzschloß Dresden)."
