Description
A metal chandelier with 18 light fittings and a lavish additional set of light fittings, with which the chandelier was equipped in connection with its electrification. The chandelier consisted of a combination of cast and chased brass parts (acanthus leaves), which probably had a fire-gilded surface, similar to the majority of the chandeliers in the Dresden Castle.
Provenance
Dresden Castle, 2nd floor east wing, anteroom to the French Gallery; In the inventory list no. 1 of 31.01.1920, as part of the settlement agreement between the Free State of Saxony and the former royal house of 1924, a bronze chandelier with 18 candles and intermediate lamps (electric) is listed under French Gallery (anteroom), as room inventory marked with a red cross, belongs to the state; The chandelier from the Gallery Antechamber was either already removed on April 13, 1944, or at the latest with the second transport on April 21, 1944 to the Brauna manor near Kamenz. Nothing is known about the exact circumstances of the loss of this object. It is assumed that the object was lost in connection with the events of the Second World War.
