History of loss: Lost at the Priegnitz relocation site in 1945; including holdings on art (IV, Da to Dl, Dt to Dx), the Peter Schlemihl Collection and a box of scientific works and manuscripts from the Wilamowitz-Moellendorf Collection. Soon after the end of the war, the management of the library endeavoured to identify and return items that had been removed from storage, at least in Berlin and Brandenburg. This was only successful to a modest extent, as the relocation sites in Priegnitz in particular had been looted and items from these holdings have continued to turn up in our possession to the present day.
