Description

signed L. de Lae (f); Esther is depicted in a bright royal robe, seated, left of the centre of the picture. She is surrounded by many diners: one adorns her neck with a pearl necklace, another, with her back to the observer in the foreground, brings her a dark-coloured garment. On Esther's left a playing white dog and various valuables can be seen on the floor. In the right half of the background, part of a magnificent courtyard can be seen.

Pendant to "Esther is brought to Ahasver / Queen of Saba and Solomon".
