Description
Rococo shapes, with rounded foliage, raised leaves on the cover. On the bowl engraved inscription: Amalia / Dux Saxoniae. Anno MDCCLXVI and the coat of arms of the Electorate of Saxony, probably referring to Princess Marie Amalie (born 1724) Queen of Spain since 1738. Marked at the foot with Dresden assay mark, the date mark H and a maker's mark not clearly recognizable, probably by Johann Andreas Erhardt.
Provenance
The object was kept in the Dresden City Hall (seat of the Dresden City Museum) until May 1945. It was stored there in the cellar together with the other arts and crafts exhibits of the museum - packed in boxes. Lost since the end of the war.
