Description
Sitting on a pillow-covered throne-like bench, clad with garment and overcoat, that let her breast uncovered to the left shoulder. In the right hand a grape. From the bench the Jesus child steps on her lap supported by her left hand, just the lower body clad, in the hands a bird. Nut wood, "Wandergruppe", probably part of an altar. Throne and subpart of the sculpture hollowed at the backside. Old painting and gilding. Was shown at the exhibition of centuries in Cologne. Previously collection Graf Adelmann, Cologne, auction-catalogue Cassirer-Helbing, Berlin 1927, Nr. 109, Taf. I and IX. "Earliest and best-preserved exemplar of sitting gothic madonnas of Cologne".
