Description
The figures are grouped around a tall tree trunk: Paris sitting, holding a sheperd's crook in his left hand and handing the apple to Aphrodite, who stands slightly left in front of him, with his right hand; a dog sits right at his feet; Cupid, with his quiver and arrows by his side, sits on a branch of the tree trunk and gazes down upon Paris; behind Paris, to the right, stands Hera, wagging her finger at Cupid; her attribute, the peacock, sits on the floor behind her; behind Aphrodite stands Athena, wearing a helmet; above her, the owl sits on a branch of the the tree trunk; the figures of the group stand on a flat, circular plinth which is inlivened by grasses and flowers.
