Provenance
According to a note in the 1858 inventory, the object used to belong to duke Ernest II of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. On December 4, 2009, the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden / Green Vault returned to the Foundation Schloss Friedenstein Gotha 13 ivory objects that had inadvertently reached Dresden when the Soviet Union returned the so-called "looted art" to the then GDR in 1958/59.
