Description
Ölbild kirchlicher Bestimmung. Abendmahlszene. Vor einer dunklen Bogenarchitektur steht der Abendmahltisch, umgeben von sitzenden Aposteln in bewegter Haltung. In der Mitte Christus mit Heiligenschein. Vorne bewegte Nebenfiguren mit Trinkgefäßen und Lebensmitteln wie zu einem Festmahl. Die tiefen Farbtöne nur durch ein helles Tischtuch unterbrochen. Alle Figuren heftig erregt und von sehr unruhigem Umriß. Breite andeutungsweise Darstellung.
Provenance
From ? until 1938 collection Ernst Pollack, Schubertring 7, Wien. Confiscated by the Nazis: VUGESTA delivery at the Dorotheum, Vienna for auction in 1942/43 Cons. Nr . 213.631 ¿2./ Withdrawn from auction by Karl Herber, the head of the VUGESTA (Verwertungsstelle jüdischen Umzugsguts der Gestapo) and supposedly transported and stored with many other objects at the convent Gwiggen, Voralberg, Austria, sometime between February to April 1945. Since the end of WW II whereabouts unknown.
