Description
Overdoor painting: Leda and the Swan
Provenance
The overdoor painting, was kept unchanged in the audience chamber from 1719 until it was relocated in 1944, together with four other surviving paintings of the same format; In the inventory list no. 1 of 31 January 1920 as part of the settlement agreement between the Free State of Saxony and the former royal house of 1924, the rooms marked in red are listed as belonging to the state; in the report by Prof. Fichtner to the Reich Governor on 27 December 1943, point 6 of the salvage specifications states ‘Abnehmen der Supraporten’. The overdoors were removed to the relocation site at Zottewitz Castle near Priestewitz. According to the files, loss at the removal site.
