Description
Koch: Portrait of Maria's mother Anna Rosenthal née Auerbach. Pastel. Chest piece. Lady in elegant afternoon toilette. Flowered silk blouse with tulle insert. Small hat with bird of paradise. Over the shoulders black silk cape with red silk lining and tulle ruffle. Row of pearls around the neck. The picture is painted in generous broad[?] coloured strokes. Only the face and hands are painted in a purely objective manner. Under glass. Hand-carved gilt wooden frame, painted circa 1908.
