Description
A blonde, blue-eyed boy, of about 17, wearing a black doublet with a turn-down shirt collar and a black beret set with feathers and embroidered with pearls; depicted half-length, turned left and looking at the beholder; he joins his hands, in which he holds his gloves, in his belt; grey-green background.
Provenance
From the collection of duke Ernest II of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (cf. 1826 inventory). [...]. Still in the museum in 1943 (catalog 1943, p. 275); lost in Reinhardsbrunn at the end of January 1946; shown at the exhibition 'Kriegsbedingt verbrachte Kulturgüter' in Moscow in the spring of 1995 in the Pushkin Museum; not in the Internet project "Restitution"; ZDF video.
