Provenance
American troops were stationed in Waldenburg Castle until June 30, 1945. Inventory losses during this time have not yet been documented in written form; With the beginning of the Soviet occupation, from July 1, 1945, the castle initially served as the Soviet military commandant's office and then as a military hospital from August 1946 to July 1947. No removals were made until the spring of 1946 and an up-to-date inventory was carried out by the appointed liaison officer; In March 1946, the library and the silver chamber were removed by the SMA; in April 1946, further inventory was taken off by the Glauchau and Waldenburg commandant's offices, among others, and in mid-August 1946 another collection took place with two trucks. When the hospital was moved to Grabowsee near Oraninenbaum in July 1947, almost the entire inventory was taken away in 15 rail carriages.
