On 21 June 1938, Philo Wuest valued the painting by Arthur and Irene Barasch, which was located in the music room of the villa at Wissmannstraße 11 (now Baraschstraße), at 75 RM. According to statements made by Luise Haertel, Arthur Barasch's secretary, during the restitution proceedings, Barasch sold his property (the partially inventoried villa, garden house and garden) in order to cover, among other things, a foreign exchange penalty, the Reich flight tax and the Jewish property tax for his wife Irene, who was in Italy, as well as living expenses. The villa and parts of its inventory were sold on 5 December 1939 to Franz Großmann (born 29 December 1886, died 5 July 1962). After his death, his son Gerhard (born 22 November 1913, died 17 September 1988) inherited the villa. After his death, the villa became the property of his wife Margarete Heinze (born 3 September 1922, died 1 June 2009). In response to her enquiry, Margarete Heinze received information on 30 March 1995 from Hans Holenweg, founder and curator of the Böcklin Archive at the Kunstmuseum Basel, that the painting ‘Gefilde der Seligen’ (Fields of the Blessed) hanging in the villa was a copy painted by another artist and not the original. The copy was last seen in the villa's ‘fairy tale room’ in the summer of 2007. The villa and garden house were sold in 2007. The current whereabouts of the object are unknown.
