Description
One of six footed saucers; enamel painting: a mythological scene on the well, framed by arabesques and four horizontal oval medallions each; rims decorated with moulded shell motives; belongs to Ahv 351 and 359 to 364.
Provenance
Gifted by the Russian tsarina Catherine II to duchess Auguste of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld; her grandson duke Ernest II of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha then gave the teapot and several pieces from other sets to the Ducal Museum in 1878. [...]. Two of the saucers were offered by Röbbig-Neumeister at the Munich Art and Antiques Fair in 1994; one of the saucers is in possession of the Hermitage St. Petersburg (Inv.No. Э-15918).
