Description
Bashiko is depicted as an old man with a beardless face and long hair at the back of his head, wandering; the Chinese robe with leaf collar and apron leaves the upper part of the body, where the thick ribs are prominent, as well as the belly uncovered; on his back squats a sick shishi, whose front paw Bashiko holds with his left hand, while the right hand carries a basket with remedies; signed.

Acquired in 1908 by Herbert Ginsberg in Japan; 1908 to 1942 Ostasiatica Collection Herbert Ginsberg, Berlin; confiscated by the SD in Rotterdam in 1942.
