Description
One of six small conical beakers, with enamel painting by J. J. Priester, depicting the Labours of the Month (signed "J. J. Priester. Pin."); belongs to Ahv 366.
Provenance
Gifted by the Russian tsarina Catherine II to duchess Auguste of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld; her grandson duke Ernest II of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha then gave the teapot and several pieces from other sets to the Ducal Museum in 1878. [...]. Two of the beakers were offered by the Würzburg art dealer H.P.Lockner jr. at the Berlin Orangerie in 1987; in 1993 the beakers were offered by the art and auction house Dr. Fischer in Heilbronn.
