Description
Boller's depiction of a small rural pond surrounded by lush green grass, bushes and trees, from which only the roof of the farmhouse behind it protrudes, cannot be categorised topographically. The tight framing emphasises the random character of the picture. Boller, who lived in Munich and often captured Upper Bavarian motifs, combines aspects of ‘paysage intime’ with an interest in aerial and light phenomena in his picture. | Regina Freyberger
