Description
Consisting of coffee pot, teapot, finger bowl, Tea-caddy, sugar bowl, four small tea cups and saucers and a single saucer. [...] Hexagonal Tea-caddy with hollow gilded ribs, gilded shoulder and foot. [...] In the six fields of the Tea-caddy, colorful chinoiseries. [...] Rims [...] gilded. Illustrations: Tea-caddy no. 55: a) Chinese man sitting at the tea table, in his right hand a frame with a colorful parrot, with whom he is talking; behind him a high golden frame with a monkey, which is lowering flower strings onto the Chinese man's hat; b) Standing Chinese with parasol, leading a child; c) Chinese sitting at the tea table with stem leaf fan and tea cup, duck flying in the air; d) Sitting Chinese with cup at boiling tea kettle; e) Walking Chinese with tea set on tray; f) Standing Chinese with burning torch and handle basket, kneeling Chinese with tea set. [...] Tea-caddy [...] with light blue on-glaze swords mark [...] gold number 76 [...] - The painting probably by Christian Friedrich Höroldt (Herold), who was employed at the Meissen manufacture since 1725.
