Description
Centrepiece: The Adoration of the Magi under an architectural arch with rich ornamentation. Saint Mary in green robe with the child to whom the Magi are offering gifts. On the left Saint Joseph. Middle ground: Palace architecture and rich figurative staffage. Hilly landscape in the background. Left wing: In the foreground a holy pilgrim with a pilgrim's hat, in his left hand a staff and a bag, his right hand resting on the shoulder of the founder kneeling in front of him. Tree-rich landscape with rock gate and castle in the background. Right wing: Saint Catherine with sword in her right hand with crown and rich brocade robe, her left hand turned protectively towards the founder kneeling in front of her, behind whom the two little daughters are kneeling. River landscape with a dense group of trees, black frame, M.J. Friedlaender writes. A work by the Master of St. Sang, who was active in Bruges around 1510. The head of the donor seems to be painted by another hand - apparently by Adriaen Isenbrant.
