canvas doubled, on the canvas upper left a circular stamp of which only the border is visible, on the stretcher frame upper left remains of a torn off, square sticker with stamp edge and golden frame, upper middle in blue "V. 24307" [this number is also on the counterpart Inv.Nr. 10909], upper right in red: "P.M."."the "M" touched by a white chalk cross, lower left label BStGS from the NS period with imperial eagle on wreath with scratched out swastika: "Inv. 10908", above "PR" (Photo Roth), on the vertical center brace in blue: "UXR 3/4m" (location Meiserstraße) and the same indication below again in white, on the frame below left standing on the head in blue a five-digit number, presumably: "31284" or "34284" (Munich number). The frame has been scaled down, and newspaper has been applied to the mitre cuts on the lower left and upper right.

1] In 1935, Hugo Helbing replaced his loan from the Jewish bank Herzog & Mayer with a series of works of art. Minutes of the meeting of 1.10.1951, State Archives Munich (StAM) WB Ia 2973.
2] In 1935, the business partners share the art holdings among themselves. From 30.06.1935 there is a list with the objects which Edith Weinberger took over from the " picture account of the company Herzog & Meyer ". StAM WB ia 2973, sheet 119f.
3] The auction house Hugo Helbing and its art dealer at Wagmüllerstraße 16 were "Aryanized" in 1938. On November 9, 1938, the Hugo Helbing company was forced to close because its sole owner, Kommerzienrat Hugo Helbing, was Jewish. The Reichskunstkammer appointed Max Heiß as trustee, a consultant for art trade issues to the regional director of the Reichskammer für bildende Künste. Since Heiß did not get any auction permission, he sold to Jakob Scheidwimmer on 13.3.1941. The auction house then ran under the name "Galerie and der Wagmüllerstr, owner Jakob Scheidwimmer, vormals Hugo Helbing", cf.
