Description

In a vaulted hall, eight men sit at a square-shaped, white-covered table behind which green, patterned curtains are stretched. The front of the board is empty. The Pharisee Simon in red robe and red pointed cap leads the banquet. Jesus sits, turning to the right, left in front. He wears a red coat, which he holds in his left hand over a gray coat. His head is surrounded by the halo. He raises his right hand above Mary Magdalene, who kneels in front of him with dislocated hair, in white underwear and red robe, and holds his right foot with both hands. Shards of broken ointment vessel are lying beside her. (Discription from Rudolph Lepke's Kunst-Auctions-Haus <Berlin> [Hrsg.],Galerie Weber, Hamburg: Versteigerung: 20., 21. und 22. Februar 1912 (Katalog Nr. 1634) — Berlin, 1912, S. 45)
