Description
Sixfoil-shaped foot with base plate, the edge decorated with Gothic open-work tracery; on the foot, the lower part of the chalice tapers towards the top and is also - like the foot and the lower part of the cup - decorated with Gothic tendrils and arches engraved in wavy lines; on the lower part of the chalice three medallions are made by recesses in the tendril ornament: in the central one, there is an engraved crucifix with the applied inscription "INRI" above the cross, the other two medaillons are decorated with escutcheons, one of which bears the initials "F-J"; the node is made up of openwork pointed arches with six protruding knobs, whose surfaces are each decorated with blue enamel and a six-petalled gilt star flower; the letters "H-I-L-F-G-O" and "I-H-E-S-U-S" are engraved on the plain hexagonal surfaces above and below, respectively; on the lower tapered edge of the cup, there is an applied band of corrugated silver gilt; on the edge of the hollow, non-gilded underside of the foot, there is the inscription "anno din 1508".
