Description
A peasant girl - the artist's sister Agathe - with blond hair, black bodice and red bosom cloth, blue apron and the little arms naked up to the elbows, sits in profile to the left at a wooden table and writes. The inkpot stands in front of the sheet of paper, behind it a bouquet of field flowers in a vase against the brown wall. The base of the table's legs can be seen. Inscribed on the left under the edge of the table with a monogram and the year 79.

purchased by Martin Flersheim in 1892 through the intermediary of the Frankfurter Kunstverein from private ownership; noted in Flersheim gallery catalogue of 1911/15; according to handwritten note in Flersheim catalogue gifted to Ernst Levi in 1938; whereabouts unknown
