Description
Rectangular, with flat convex cover in engraved and gilded silver mount. On the four sides a river landscape with bridge, farmsteads and windmill, hikers, anglers, donkey drivers and a farmer's wife on horseback. On the cover similar landscape with mill at the river, sailing boat, fishermen with net in the water, donkey rider and girl with dog. On the bottom of the base isolated landscape with hut, group of trees, fence and rock at the water. Faint colours, predominantly in green. On the inner cover a colourful mythological depiction: Bacchus in a retinue of bacchants, satyr children, a lion and a panther with Venus sitting on a bed under a draped oak tree; next to her the flute-playing Pan. Work of Isaac Jacques Clauce in Berlin. The inner cover picture inscribed lower right: "Clauce 1756".
