Description

On a little stage in front of a landscape are dancing two young spanish women. One of them is wearing a yellow dress with black flounces made of lace and paillette detailing and hat in the hands. She is lifting graceful the dress and is showing her small foot. Her big dark eyes and her beautiful face followingthe viewer full of passion. Beneath her is lying a bouquet of violets. The other dancer is standing left. Shoulder and hips are covered tight with a brighter shawl. Thae shawls fringes are falling over her red flowerd skirt. She has a pink rose at her hair. Her head is inclined at the side and follows with the body the movement of the dance. Her raised hands are clapping the rythm.

acquired by the artist himself in 1903; Martin and Florence Flersheim Collection, Frankfurt/Main, probably in the Flersheim removal goods in Amsterdam 1937/38, taken out there - further fate unknown; [...]; according to the catalogue exhibition Bilbao 2019 in Collection Casacuberta Marsans
