Description
The panther striding to the right in the Frankfurt Zoo, its gaze directed at the viewer, fills the entire length of the picture format. This visualizes the tightness of the cage situation. Formally interesting are the carvings with the brush style into the still wet oil paint, which underlines the dynamic of the predator. (UW); inscribed: Slevogt 1901 (top left), slight damage
